How To Do The Basics On A Horse Made Easy With Laura

You will need: A horse/pony, Appropriate riding gear

Aim: to improve your horseback riding ability


Instructions


1.Mounting and Dismounting



  • Stand on the left hand side of the horse 
  • Take hold of your reins 
  • Place your right hand on the back of the saddle
  • Put your left hand on the front still holding your reins 
  • Put your left leg in the stirrup 
  • Boost yourself up.                                                                                                                        Dismounting 
  • Hold the front of the saddle
  • Take both feet out of the stirrups 
  • Swing your right leg to the other side of the saddle 
  • At the same time put your right hand on the back of the saddle
  • Lower yourself.                                                                                                                      2.stopping,steering and walking on 
  • Pull your left rein and squeeze with your opposite leg
  • Follow the same procedure as if you were turning left but with your right hand and left leg.       Stopping 
  • Pull both hands     
  •  say "woah" your horse should stop.                                                                                   Walking on      
  • Lighting push your hands forwards a little
  • Squeeze both legs                                                                                                                                               Outcome: Well done! You now know how to do the basics on a horse!
